Zenobia Jordan Obituary

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, the Lord called Sister Zenobia Smith Jordan to eternal rest. She was born on October 9, 1930, to the late Edward and Liddie Smith. She was married to Matthew Jordan Sr., and to this union seven boys were born. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Church in Dorseyville, LA. She retired from the Iberville Parish School System as a long-time, dedicated food service technician. As the matriarch of her family she will leave to cherish her memory five sons: Matthew Jr. (Lynette), Belle Rose, LA, Bobby Sr. (Sandra), Plaquemine, LA, Edward Sr. (Lolita), Alexandria, VA, Gregory Sr. and Bryant, White Castle, LA; one grandson whom she reared, Bobby Jr. (Nedrea), Stafford, VA; two daughters-in-law, Gwendolyn Jordan, Baton Rouge, LA, and Dorothy Jordan, Bayou Goula, LA; twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Eugene Walton, Silver Spring, MD; two godchildren, Lloyd O'Bear and Angela Faye Green; a very dear friend, Lucille Warner; a devoted neighbor and friend, Harrison Singleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Liddie Smith; her husband, Matthew Jordan Sr.; two sons, Ronald and Roland; two grandchildren; four sisters, Sarah Williams, Jennie Hardin, Frances Dorsey and Ruth Walton; and five brothers, Olander Smith Sr., Jacob Smith, Eddie Smith, Earl Smith and Louis Smith. Visitation Saturday, June 16, at 9am until Celebration of Life Service at 1pm at St. John the Baptist Church, Dorseyville, Pastor Gregory L. Coates, I. Professional services entrusted to Hall Davis and Son.
