A retired commercial securities vice president and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 2:46 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 89, a native of Haynesville and served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. until service in the chapel at noon. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his loving wife, Gloria Patin Hall; three daughters, Elizabeth Caldwell, Baton Rouge, Fran Sabourin and husband Ron, Pittsburg, Pa., and Summer Janklo, of California; six precious grandchildren, Brandy Thomas, of New Orleans, Michael Thomas and wife Gwen, Brittany Thomas and Katie Caldwell, all of Baton Rouge, and Ian and Tyson Sabourin, of Sacramento, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Trey Palmer and Beau Thomas, both of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Weldon Hall, who died in World War II. Skinny will be remembered for his great love for LSU where he played baseball and football. In 1946, he won the Robert Eastland award for most valuable player in football. He was proud that he was able to attend all the LSU games for the next 62 years. He was a member of the Lion's Club, "L" Club, served as president of the LSU coaches committee, 6th man club, TIGER Athletic Foundation and a member of the Sherwood Forest Country Club for more than 50 years. Pallbearers will be Michael and Thommy Thomas, Stewart Walters, Alan Schuetz, Newton Baker and Dr. Bill Lovell Sr.
