Herman Barbot Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 21 to Jul. 23, 2013.

Our dear Moe entered into rest after 82 years, going home to the Lord on Saturday morning, July 20, 2013 at 3:30. Moe was a very loving and dedicated husband who will be missed dearly by his wife of 60 years, Joan Franz Barbot. He was a wonderful father whose memories will be cherished by his four children, Chris Barbot (Cindy), Linda Blaché (Alan), Brenda Flynn (Kenny) and Beverly Roberts (Steve). Pone/grandpa was a caring and generous grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Moe was welcomed home by his mother and father, Carmelitte and Charles Barbot, and two brothers, Julius and Wally Barbot. Moe was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Metairie for 55 years. He was a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Church for 50 years and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Moe spent 60 years in banking and retired as a vice president of Regions Bank. Moe was affiliated with multiple organizations. He was the president of the CAA and MDA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Thursday, July 25, 2013 beginning at 12:00 noon with a Funeral Mass to follow in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home chapel at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the American Parkinson Disease Association. I'm Susan Capdeville. Like you have lost our love ones a day apart. He talked about Moe from time to time and always wondered how he was doing. I thought of him this morning and wondered if he was still with us. I was going to call someone at Regions to see if they knew. Then i saw the death notice and said how ironic that I just thought about him this morning. Merrol always liked to talk to Moe he loved the man he was and admired him. Sorry for your lost Susan Capdeville

Pone I really miss you a lot. I don't know why you had to go, but I know you are in a better place and able to walk around and watch over me every day. As you jump from cloud to cloud to watch me, I know I am safe. I love you and miss you.

It was the other day when we heard the news
that he left before the morning dew
when God came to take him home
To heaven where he can run and roam

But don't think of him as gone or away
Because by our sides he will forever stay
If not in spirit but as a guardian angel
With beautiful wings and a glorious halo

As he looks upon us each and every day
We bow our heads and pray
Maybe we shed a tear or two
Or even whisper an I miss you

His life was full of loving deeds
Forever thoughtful of our special needs
Today and Tomorrow, our whole life through
We will always love and cherish the man we look up to

love you

Pone you were here just the other day
how could you just fade away
as tears raced down my face
I tried to find that peacefully place
as they told me you were gone
I could not hold my tears for long
if you could have just stayed for one more year
I would have been ready for all the tears
we were close together
I got to say goodbye
and you brighten my face
when you said I was your little man

Pone I am truly blessed to have been able to call you my grandpa. I know that 34 years will never be long enough, but I am so blessed that you were able to know each of my children and they were able to know their great-grandpa for the years they have had with you. We will miss you dearly, but knowing that you will always be watching over us makes me smile. I will always have "Mr. Barbot" questions and now I have to listen a little harder to hear you. Thankyou for loving my unconditionally. I love and miss you pone. You are the greatest man I know.

I am truly sorry for your loss. I worked with Moe at Regions Bank for over 13 years. He was like a big brother to me. I know the one thing Moe loved more than life was his family. Anytime he would talk about his grandkids he'd get a special twinkle in his eyes. I was so happy to attend his retirement party and put the faces with the names I heard so much about over the years. Our Regions Bank family lost 2 great men in two days in Moe and Merrol Capdeville, who we would affectionately refer to as "Mutt & Jeff" when they were together since Merrol was barely 5 feet tall and Moe looked like a giant next to him. I can only imagine their reaction when Merrol arrived in Heaven 2 days after Moe! God help Heaven!!!
Moe will be sadly missed here on earth, but the Angels in heaven are smiling more now as they get to see the twinkle in Moe's eyes. May Jesus hold you in his arms until we meet again.

Joan, So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Barbot. I have many memories of Hibernia Bank with Mr. Barbot as my "boss". He was one of the best, always fair with his employees. He and Mr. Lonero were two of the best people I have ever worked with. Remember the party we had for the bank employees on Carrollton Ave. May you find comfort and peace in the Lord.

I am so sorry for your loss. Having worked with Moe at Regions Bank for over 13 years, I became to know how much his family meant to him. There was nothing more important in his life. I affectionately called Moe my big brother. I'm glad I got to attend his retirement party and put the "faces" with all the names of the grandkids he spent hours talking about. Moe always had a smile on his face, but he would get a special twinkle in his eyes when he talked about his family. It has been my pleasure getting to know him and I will miss his presence here on earth, but I know there are Angels in heaven who are now enjoying seeing the twinkle in his eyes. Rest in the arms of Jesus, Moe, you truly deserve it.

To my most precious family whom I love very much. Please try and remember all of our happy family times we had together with mom and dad. I know we will miss him so deeply and he will never be forgotten. We couldn't have gotten a better dad than the one God had picked for us. Together we will stand strong and carry on dad's legacy.
