Carolyn ""Phoebe"" Hagler Adams, resident of Baton Rouge, passed away September 3, 2013 at the Carpenter House at the age of 85. She was born on July 5, 1928, the only child of the late John Thomas and Clara Hagler. Carolyn attended the University of Southern Mississippi and was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, and was known for her giving spirit as she was always willing to help others. Carolyn was always cooking and baking for her family and friends, and made a Christmas fruitcake for her doctors each year. She was an avid reader and loved her family very much. Carolyn will be missed by her dear husband of 63 years, Tommy Adams; daughter, Lynn Boyt; son, Michael Adams and wife Celeste; grandchildren, Jennifer Boyt-Phillips and husband Chris, Kelly Boyt and fianceé Melissa, Jessica Hines and husband John, and Christopher Adams; and great grandchildren Kade and Carter Boyt. Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm, Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Greenoaks Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 1:30pm until the Funeral Mass at 2:30pm, Friday, September 6, 2013 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave in Baton Rouge. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Kelly Boyt, Chris Phillips, Lance Vinning, Joe Stephenson, John Bauman, and Todd Graham. The family would like to express their gratitude to Drs. Todd Cooley, John McClelland, Elizabeth Hawkins, and all the nurses, technicians and therapists at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet and the Carpenter House for their care and compassion. We are also grateful for nurse Ryan Rivers and assistants Shyla and Kim from Feliciana Hospice. There are not enough words to convey our thanks to Mae Underwood, Susan Brady and Hilda Furlong for providing comfort, companionship, hope and friendship in her final days.
