Fannie Margret "Madear" Mamon, a native of Independence and resident of Baton Rouge passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at Heritage House. She was 83 and a retired cook. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 10 am until service at 11 am, conducted by Rev. J. Hayward Davis. Interment in Winnfield Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, Alvin Lemon; daughters, Elizabeth Abuwi, Jacqulyn Pero and Evette Mamon; and son, Daniel Thomas, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will Matthews and Elizabeth Brandon; and step-father, Herbert Brandon.
