A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Iota, Leven, age 75, died at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after a brief illness on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 surrounded by loving family. The angels came and carried our loved one to a much better place where pain and suffering do not exist. He leaves behind his family who will miss him terribly. He is his survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Beard LeJeune; sisters-in-law, Marie Beard Rumbarger and husband Maurice, Ginger Beard Kainer and husband Ed; brother-in-law, Raymond Beard and fiancee' Lori Cruse; nieces and their husbands, Tara & Jim Schiro, Ashley and Tom Evans, Jenny and Kirk Delatte, Stacie and Robbi Quarrels, Brigette and Bob Lowery, and Lisa Hossain; nephew and his wife, Sean and Melodie Beard; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Celine and Louisette Seilhan; and a brother-in-law, Byron Beard. Leven was a member of Downtown Lions Club, St. Thomas More Knights of Columbus Council #5530, St. Thomas More Holy Name Society, Woods and Water, and many other civic and professional organizations during his work career. Special thanks to the Oncology Center 5 West, St. Mary's Tower, for the loving care Leven received. Our deepest thanks to Dr. David Hanson and the staff at Mary Bird Perkins. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Friday, Feb. 21, from 5 pm until 8 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Visitation resumes at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Duhe'. Entombment will follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, or .
