I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy, 4:7. A native and resident of Sorrento, Louisiana, Mr. Elwood J. LeBlanc passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 in Baton Rouge at the age of 73. He was a retired Sgt. from Louisiana State Police. A visitation will held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume at St. Anne Catholic Church on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 9:00 AM until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM celebrated by Rev. Michael Galea. Entombment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum in St. Amant. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlene Mire LeBlanc of Sorrento, 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law: David LeBlanc & Jessie of Gonzales and Blake LeBlanc of Sorrento, 1 sister: Emmaline LeBlanc of Gonzales, 5 grandchildren: Jeremy McCrory, Cody Sanchez, Julia LeBlanc, Trent LeBlanc and Amanda LeBlanc. He is also survived by a friend of the family: Stephanie LeBlanc. He was preceded in death by his parents: Felician and Orene Dupuy LeBlanc, Brothers: Joseph "Nig" LeBlanc and John "Bubbie" LeBlanc, Sisters: Beatrice "Tootsie" Schexnayder, Ruby LeBlanc, Thilda "Tee" Walker, Arys Trabeau and Audrey Painter and a granddaughter: Eden Faith LeBlanc. Pallbearers will be Gary Landry, Chad Trabeau, Terrell Moran, Todd Moran, Paul Kerek and Perry Schexnayder. Honorary pallbearers will Manny Simoneaux, Clay Schexnayder and Michael Melugin. He was at home in his workshop or in Alex Box Stadium, loved his sons and their families and spending time with his grandchildren, loved LSU tailgating and he used his woodworking to help many benefits. He also enjoyed attending the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska for ten years. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Old Jefferson Community Care Center, St. Joseph Hospice and the many caregivers. Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales is in charge of arrangements.
