Funeral services for Joyce Benoit Johnston, 79, will be held Thursday April 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Centenary United Methodist Church, with Pastor Charlie Floyd officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday April 2, 2014 at Centenary Methodist Church from 11:00 AM until 9:00PM and will resume Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of services. Burial will follow at the Gueydan Cemetery, in Gueydan La. A native of Gueydan and a resident of Rayne Joyce passed away Monday March 31, 2014 at her residence in Rayne. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking large family meals for the holidays and special family gatherings. Survivors include her two daughters Joyce Celine "Nay" and her husband Ivan Miller of Pinegrove La., and Cindi "Lulie" Johnston of Rayne; three grandsons Harris "Con" Miller III of Baton Rouge La., Baker and Billy Miller both of Gueydan; her other children Kayla Fontenot Breaux and her husband Ted and their children Kamrie and Jude, and Shelley Fontenot Breaux and her husband Alan and their children Sydney and Brad all of Rayne; and her sister Laura Wall of Baytown Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband R. Harris Johnston; her parents Alcee and Elmaza Manceaux Benoit; and her seven siblings Emma Lemaire, Freeman Benoit, Eddie Benoit, Clyde Benoit, Earl Benoit, Myrtle Jean Baker and Eugene Benoit. Serving as pallbearers will be Harris "Con" Miller III, Baker Miller, Ted Breaux, Bruce Johnston, Brad Breaux, and Alan Breaux. David Funeral Home, 2600 Charity St., Abbeville La.
