A ceremony celebrating the life of Mrs. Lela D. Gilcrease will be held at 9:00 am on Monday at the chapel of Seale Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 8:00 am until time of the service; interment will follow at 11:00 am at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Mrs. Gilcrease was born in Montgomery, Louisiana on November 28, 1923 to the union of George W. and Mae Calhoun Dyson and departed from this life on Wednesday afternoon April 23, 2014 at Golden Age Nursing Home at 90 years of age. She was a homemaker; a member of Graceworks Church; she enjoyed gardening and cooking; her passion was her family; she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She is preceded in death by her husband George R. Gilcrease Jr.; her parents George W. and Mae Calhoun Dyson; and siblings Morgan Dyson, Owen Dyson, Henry Dyson, Irvin Dyson, George Dyson, and Bernice Gilcrease. Survivors include her children Robert "Bob" Gilcrease and wife Dianna, Bruce Gilcrease and wife Marie, Cynthia Gilcrease, and Rodney Gilcrease; her sisters Emily Price and Mattie Mae Bannister; grandchildren Jodi Meisner, LeAnn Covington, Kacy Laurence, Rebecca Gafford, Jason Gremillion, and Sarah Weiss; also survived by 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pall bearers will be Beau Meisner, Quinn Meisner, Dave Gafford, Mitch Covington, Scott Laurence, and Chris Creel. Honorary pall bearer is Jason Gremillion.
