Genevieve Simmons Payne passed away peacefully at her home Friday, April 25, 2014. Genevieve was born in Magnolia, MS on September, 12, 1928 to Hilda and O. C. Simmons. She was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a loyal servant of her Lord. Genevieve's family was her greatest joy and her life was an inspiration to family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 53 years, John Henry Payne, and a son, Richard Simmons Payne. She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Payne Campbell and husband Frank and Jan Payne Frey and husband Fred, and a son, John Michael Payne and wife Brenda. She is also survived by her brother O. C. Simmons, Jr. Grandchildren include: London Campbell DeMare (George), Barrett Campbell Hudkins (Michael), F. Charles Frey (Ashley), Genevieve Frey (Gidget), and Anna Caroline Frey, and seven great-grandchildren; Landry and Aidan DeMare, Sophie and Harper Hudkins and Major, Caroline, and Jake Frey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brother Tommy French's Jefferson Baptist Sunday School class, of which Genevieve was a charter member, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Visitation will be Monday, April 28, 2014 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East 11000 Florida Blvd. starting at 9:00am with services in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am. A graveside service will be held Monday at 3:00pm at the Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Magnolia MS. Please sign our online registry at
