Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, for Lucy Tabb Bergeron, 80, who died on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette. Entombment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum in Scott. Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", "Isaiah 49", "On Eagles' Wings", and "Here I Am Lord" for the services. Left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Peggy Bergeron Broussard of Lafayette; four sisters, Ozelima Fontenot, Louisa Blair, Florence Lynch, and Inez Richard; two grandchildren, Howard Steve Bergeron, Jr. and his wife, Hillary, Alexa Broussard Todd and her husband, Andy; two step-granddaughters, Emily Broome and Denise Mosser; three great grandchildren, Bauer Reese Bergeron, Catherine Elizabeth Todd, and Michael Paul Todd; and ten step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Wilson Bergeron; her infant twin daughter, Brenda Marie Bergeron; her son, Howard Steve Bergeron, Sr.; her parents, Anderson and Marie Cormier Tabb; and three brothers, Houston Tabb, Dallas "Nachick" Tabb, and Wilbert "Doo" Tabb, Sr. A native of Scott, and resident of Lafayette for the past 54 years, Lucy Tabb Bergeron was a dedicated parishioner of St. Jules Catholic Church. She retired after working 30 years for the Lafayette Parish School Board. Lucy was a member of the Animal Humane Society. She cared for and loved birds and animals, especially, her beloved Chihuahua, Sweet Pea. She also enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. Lucy Tabb Bergeron was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed. Pallbearers will be Freddie Richard, Jr., Jordan Richard, Howard Steve Bergeron, Jr., Jimmy Freeman, Darrell Robin, and Robert Robin. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SCOTT location on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
