Richard Dalton, 71, of Houston, TX passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. He was born in Benton, AR, on October 21, 1942, to the late Lillie O'Kelly Dalton and Robert Clyde Dalton. Richard graduated from Lamar University and received a master's degree in science from Oklahoma University in 1966. Richard was a passionate member of the south-central Louisiana's thriving oil and gas community in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Richard met and fell in love with Sharon Ann Guidry Dalton of New Iberia and they married on May 9, 1970. As a successful petroleum geologist who specialized in oil and gas exploration from the Acadia, Lafayette, and Iberia parishes, Richard also fell in love with the culture and countryside of Louisiana. While his career later moved him and Sharon to Houston, TX, he always considered Louisiana his home. Richard is survived by his wife Sharon and two children; Richard "Rick" Dalton Jr. of Dallas, TX; and Amanda Dalton, also of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
