Louise Elizabeth Baker Dougherty peacefully released her soul into the loving arms of God on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 2:10 a.m. at her home in Baker with her cherished husband of 41 years at her side, Emerson (E.W.) Dougherty. Born March 3, 1922 in Leesville, Louisiana she is survived by her son, Reggie (Blue) Baker and wife Betty; grandchildren Chad, Dustin and Felicia Baker and great grandson Beau, devoted grandson, Layne Baker and his wife, Brandi who selflessly provided tender loving care for her; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Billy, and Layna Baker and Cory and Carmen Tatum. She will be missed by her loving nephew, Lee Van Randall, Jr., nieces, Melinda Stallings, Amelia and Wade Beadle, and a host of extended family and friends. She worked for the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles for 40 years and was head of the licensing division upon her retirement. She was loved and respected by many across the state as the "can do" lady who could always be relied upon to make things happen. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she touched countless lives as she lifted people up at every turn. She loved life and her spirit will be missed but today, the angels and her family, L.D. and Rosa Holland, best friend and sister, Florence Stallings and Myrtle Fisher and younger brother L.D. "Buck" Holland, Jr. are celebrating their reunion.
