Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM. The Memorial Service will take place at Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott for Joyce Leger Billeaud, 84, who died on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at her home in Scott surrounded by her family. Chaplain Francis Fontenot of Family Choice Hospice, will officiate the services. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 66 years, Howard Joseph Billeaud; one son, Malcolm "Mack" Billeaud and his wife, Becky Mire Billeaud; one daughter, Cheryl Billeaud Ridge and her husband, Billy D. Ridge; five grandchildren, Brandy Billeaud Schaaf and her husband, Steve Schaaf, Ian Ridge, Jared Billeaud, Rusty Ridge and his wife, Pam Wilson Ridge, and Laci Billeaud; five great grandchildren, Dylan Chaisson Ridge, Madison Ridge, Rylie Schaaf, Drew Schaaf and Emerson Schaaf; one sister, Claudia Leger Avant; and two brothers, James "Jim" Leger and Aaron Leger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Velce and Effie Laughlin Leger; her in-laws, Lastie and Celestine Trahan Billeaud; one brother, Leonard Leger; and one son, SPC5 Wayne James Billeaud. Joyce Leger Billeaud was reunited with her son Wayne on June 17, 2014, exactly 43 years to the day that he was killed in Vietnam. She worked for UMC for 23 years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandbabies, whom she adored. She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends playing friendly Bourée and Bingo games. Joyce was a "Gold Star" mother, and was an active member of the VFW Post 9822 as well as the VVA. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, June 29, 2014 following the Memorial Services. The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille's SCOTT Location on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Family Choice Hospice, especially Christine for her many years of love and support. The family would also like to thank all other care providers who gave great care through her journey of many years.
