Wayne D. Swenson, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday June 24th, 2014. Born of Walter and Kathryn Swenson in Rochester MN, he was raised by Sidney and Kathryn Wartham who moved the family to Baton Rouge. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1943. He married Ouida Mae Lockwood, the love of his life. They celebrated 70 years of marriage last October. He served in the US Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He became a prominent commercial and residential real estate developer and building contractor in Baton Rouge. His strong sense of civic duty and giving nature touched many lives in the Baton Rouge community. He was dedicated to his family and friends. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and St. Aloysius Parish. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and LSU sports fan; and enjoyed his weekly card games with his cronies. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bernard Swenson and his daughter Evelyn Ann Swenson. He is survived by his wife, sons, Wayne, Jr. (Sondra), Kenneth "Ken" (Erin) and his daughter Cynthia "Candy" Swenson Lousteau (Bert); his 11 grandchildren Barry Stringer (Melissa), Shoni Swenson Tucker (Eric), Shelby Swenson Helms (Mike), Sheri Swenson, Molly Malone (James), Kenny Swenson, Scott Swenson, Bert Lousteau IV (Amy), Carly Lousteau (Stacy), Blair Lousteau, and Lauren Lousteau Sternfels (Colby); 7 great grandchildren, Holden Tucker, Caitlin Tucker, Maddie Helms, Presley Helms, Addison Lousteau, Andrew Wayne Lousteau, Mackenzie Howell, and Harper Sternfels. A special thank you to his loving caregivers, Jessica Gailes, Lisa Lee and Sylvia Hamilton. Also a thank you to Cardinal Hospice for their services. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Saturday June 28th, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Gerald Burns, will be held at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North St. Pallbearers: Wayne Swenson Jr., Ken Swenson, Barry Stringer, Bert Lousteau IV, Kenny Swenson, Bert Lousteau III.
