A funeral service for Raywood J. Bessard is scheduled for Saturday, July 05, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Faith Hope Missionary Baptist Church - 407 Duroq Street - Abbeville, LA. He will await the resurrection in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ronnell Cheatham will officiate the service. Raywood Bessard (63), a long time resident of Abbeville was called home on Sunday, June 22, 2014 while a resident of Kaplan Health Care Center in Kaplan, LA. He leaves to mourn his passing, one son, Raywood Junior Mitchell of Concord, CA; one daughter, Yolanda Plowden (Marc) of Abbeville, LA; one step-daughter, Mable Mary Guillory of Abbeville, LA; Nine sisters, Dorothy Bessard (L. J.) of Concord, CA; Patricia Baudoin (Steven) of Antioch, CA; Joycie Levine of Pittsburg, CA; Georgia Bessard of San Jose, CA; Mary Joiner, Joyce Pillette (Joseph), Helen Ann Minor (Tony), Mae Dean Payne (Melvin), all of Abbeville, LA; and Connie Marie Perro (Rueban) of New Iberia, LA; a step-father, Elliott Minor, Sr. of Abbeville, LA; three uncles and two aunts of Grand Rapids, MI; and aunt Jeannette Bessard of Abbeville, LA; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Hoffpauir, Sr. and Beatrice Bessard, a brother, Elliot Minor, Jr., a son, Sharone "PeeWee" Mitchell, a cousin, Dwayne Todd Bessard, two aunts, Alberta Bessard and Bernice Bessard, two uncles, Morris Bessard and Albert Warren Bessard, one great-nephew, Ashton Hollinsworth, and paternal grandparents, Eunice Briggs Bessard and Clovise Bessard. Visitation with family and friends will take place at the church from 8:00 A.M. until time of service. Kinchen Funeral Home - 218 N.
