A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Russell "Bruce" Malbreaux on Saturday, July 26, 2014, 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He will be buried in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Fr. Lambert will conduct the services. Russell "Bruce" Malbreaux was born on September 6, 1929 in Carencro, La. He resided in Lafayette until his death. He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Louise Simpson on February 6, 1951. Bruce passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at AMG Specialty Hospital. Bruce was a "Jack of All Trades" and a Master of All (from horse connoisseur to butcher to entrepreneur). Bruce owned race horses (he enjoyed going to the track races). He drove the city bus and was also an avid gardener, especially growing "Okra". Bruce was known as the "Okra" man! He had a host of hobbies! Bruce will be greatly missed, especially during the okra season. Bruce leaves to mourn his memory his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Louise Malbreaux. Three Children: Russell Malbreaux {deceased} (Susannah Johnson Malbreaux); Gene Allen Malbreaux (Houston, TX) and Pamela Malbreaux Thomas (Houston, TX). He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mercedes Malbreaux. Deceased Siblings - Harold Malbreaux, Eddie Malbreaux (Maryanne) and Irene Siner Elsie Gillame (Wallace Gillame). Living Siblings - Emma Malbreaux (Carencro, LA), Ollie Holden (Los Angeles, CA), Sarah Malbreaux (Lafayette, LA), Joseph Malbreaux (Martha Malbreaux {Deceased}, (Houston TX). Grandchildren - Adrienne Johnson Malbreaux ( Long Beach, CA); Kerry Malbreaux (Houston, TX); Nicole Malbreaux (Lafayette, LA); Russell Malbreaux, II (Austin, TX); Amber Maclin (Houston, TX); Jaryd Maclin (Houston, TX) and Brittnie Malbreaux (Houston TX). Great-grandchildren - Gabrielle Stewart, Nicholas Malbreaux, Jalen Mouton, Hezekiah Malbreaux and A'ariel Malbreaux. Active Pallbearers - Jaryd Maclin, Russell Malbreaux, II, Raymond Fontenot, David Richard, Brandon Richard and Sidney Jones. Honorary Pallbearers - Joseph Malbreaux, Kerry Malbreaux, Wallace Guillaume, Gary Bernard, Larry Bell, Anthony Bell, Dwight Ike Martin and Larry Simpson. Visitation will be Saturday, July 26, 2014, from 8:00 AM until the time of service at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc of Lafayette is in charge of final arrangements.
