Mary Beth Spates Prudhomme, 62, of Lafayette, formerly of Baton Rouge, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014, after a ten-month battle with cancer. She passed away in the comfort of her cherished Myrtle Place home with her loving family and adored pets by her side. She was born to the late Stuart and Mary Elizabeth Spates, on January 30, 1952, in Sulphur, La. Mary Beth graduated from Sulphur High School in 1970 and received a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1975. She married Patrick Prudhomme in 1977 in Lafayette. Mary Beth was the beloved mother of three children. Her endearing personality, selflessness and radiant smile will be sorely missed. Survived by husband, Patrick Prudhomme; brother, Stuart T. Spates, Jr., Austin, Tx.; three children: Gerard Prudhomme, Los Angeles, Ca.; Andre Prudhomme, San Francisco, Ca.; Collette Prudhomme Cosminski, Lafayette, La; one step-child, Mauriana Prudhomme Robichaux, Lafayette, La.; and one close niece, Elizabeth Spates, Long Beach, Ca. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 12 Noon in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location.
