Mr. Claude Hooton was born January 26, 1923 in Hughes Springs, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. P.D. Hooton. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II as a flight officer. Claude graduated from the University of Texas in 1948 and was employed by the Humble Oil and Refining Company, which later became the Exxon Corporation. After retirement, he spent many years with the Service Corps of Retired Executives associated with the Chamber of Commerce. He was a longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, a Trustee, and as Church Treasurer. The family will receive friends at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 1:00 pm until time of service at Grace Presbyterian Church 518 Roselawn Blvd. Lafayette, LA 70503. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Grace Presbyterian Church 518 Roselawn Blvd. Lafayette, LA 70503 with Reverend John Wamsley Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be at Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Survivors include three sons, Donald M. Hooton and his wife, Gwendolyn Hopkins Hooton of McKinney Texas, James G. Hooton and his wife Jean Lelmann Hooton of Arlington, Texas, and the Rev. Richard C. Hooton and his wife the Rev. Frances Johnson Hooton of Jonesboro, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Mackenzie Hooton Mikulas and her husband Jonathan Mikulas and Donald M. Hooton Jr. and his wife Chelsey Pike Hooton of Colleyville, Texas; two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Julia Hooton; two grandchildren, Heather Hooton and Taylor Hooton; three brothers, Dale Hooton, P.D. Hooton, and Vernon Hooton, and four sisters, Erin Lewis, Olline Hitchens, Anna Speckels, and Margaret Speckels. Pallbearers will be, Donald Hooton, Bobby Guynn, Paul Hawley, David Jones, Julia Champagne, Paul Guillot. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Beau Birch and Larry Donohoe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Presbyterian Church 518 Roselawn Blvd. Lafayette, LA 70503.
