Mary Delle Bogan Gerald was born June 14, 1930 and passed away on August 14th at the age of 84. She is survived by her daughter Susan Gerald Hawfield and husband John; and her three sons Don Gerald, Jr. and wife Meg; Todd Gerald and wife Ann; and Barry Gerald and wife Connie along with eight grandchildren Austin Gerald, Maura Hawfield, Hudson Gerald, Rainey Gerald, Taylor Hawfield, Fallon Gerald, Kelly Gerald, and Bo Gerald. She is also survived by her brother, Robert A. Bogan, Jr. and his wife Ginny; and by her sister, Ursula Bogan Carmena and her husband Jack. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Francis Gerald, Sr., her infant daughter Maura Elizabeth Gerald, sister Betty Ann Bogan, granddaughter Julia Kate Gerald, parents Robert and Ethel Bogan, and in-laws Brook Samuel and Lena Gerald. Mary Delle graduated St. Joseph's Academy in 1947 and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. Upon graduation, she worked for one of the first family courts of Baton Rouge as a probation and intake officer. Mary Delle spent her lifetime volunteering and giving back to the Baton Rouge community in organizations like Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation (Emerge Center) and Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge. She served on the boards of Our Lady of the Lake Foundation, Ollie Steele Burden Manor, St. Clare Manor and LSU School of Social Work. Mary Delle was a longtime member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge and served on various committees. From 1969-1970, she served as President of the Junior League of Baton Rouge. In 2001, Mary Delle was named Outstanding Alumnae of St. Joseph's Academy. Mary Delle was a life-long member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday August 15th at Rabenhorst Funeral Home at 825 Government St. from 4-8pm. Visitation will also be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church starting at 10am Saturday August 16th until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Celebrant is Father Miles Walsh. Pallbearers will be Bill Klein, Robert Bogan III, Austin Gerald, Hudson Gerald, John Hawfield, and Taylor Hawfield. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Bogan, Jr., Jack Carmena, Jack Jackson, David Blanchard and Rusty Hebert. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff members of Hospice of Baton Rouge and Ollie Steele Burden Manor for their compassionate and dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Delle Bogan Gerald Scholarship at St. Joseph's Academy in Baton Rouge or Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
