Mary Pitre Obituary

A resident of Baton Rouge, LA., she passed away at 8:00am on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at her daughter's home surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She was an avid homemaker. For more than 20 years she not only cared for her own children but provided care for other children in her home. This was a true testament to her love of caregiving. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed while remaining in our hearts. Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Liquori Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd. on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am celebrated by Rev. Michael J. Moroney. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by her daughter, Rosalie Pitre Austin; son and his wife, Forest and Cherry Pitre; son and his wife, Horace (Pete) and Penny Pitre; and Tommy Pitre. She had nine grandchildren, Kasey Austin, Stacey Lamabe, Jason Pitre, Laurie Ringo, Danielle Fontenot, T.J. Pitre, Dakota Pitre, Anthony Pitre, and Courtney Zanes. She had eight great grandchildren; brothers, Lanky Corsentino and Anthony Corsentino and his wife, Patsy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.R. Pitre, Sr.; Son-in-law, Don Austin; sisters, Vita Martello and husband, Rocky; Josephine Zito and husband, Frank, Lena Pritchett and husband, Jack; Theresa Swanson and husband, Eric Sr.; brothers, Angelo Corsentino and wife, Dot; S.J. Corsentino; and Cora Corsentino. Pallbearers will be Jason Pitre, T.J. Pitre, Frank Ringo, John Lamabe, Eddie Pitre, Sr., and Anthony Pitre. Honorary pallbearers; Rick Fontenot, Anthony Corsentino, Marc Ragon, and Frank Valenzano. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Judy Maridy, her caregiver, for taking care of their mother during her time and a special thanks to Lorriane Wells with South Louisiana Hospice, Inc. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Baton Rouge Mental Health Assoc. Condolences can be left for the family on www.greenoaksfunerals.com.
