Dorothy "Dot" Guilbeau Gankendorff, a native of Carencro, LA, and a lifelong resident of Lafayette Parish, passed away at her residence in Lafayette on August 20, 2014, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren Gankendorff, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith Breaux and Edgar Guilbeau, and her stepmother, Lydie Bernard Guilbeau, siblings, Edgar "E.J." Guilbeau, Preston Guilbeau, Frank Guilbeau, Louise Guilbeau Bernard, and Birdie Guilbeau Mouton. She is survived by her children, Christine Gankendorff LeBlanc and her husband, Donald LeBlanc, Jr., Warren Gankendorff, Jr., and Edgar Dean Gankendorff and his wife, Ragan Davis Gankendorff, and her grandchildren, James Warren LeBlanc, Warren James Gankendorff, III, Hayden Vaughn Gankendorff and Gray Hunter Gankendorff and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, 2014, at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum of the Resurrection. Reverend Michael J. Russo, Pastor, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Mike Dartez and David Hebert. Giftbearers will be Gayle Dartez and Velma Kallam. Pallbearers will be: L.C. Cambre, J.B. Mouton, Dr. Robert Romero, Ed Lopez, Wes Castille, and Greg Brandl. Honorary pallbearers are the staff at LaFonda's. The family wishes to thank the following dedicated and exceptional team of caregivers: Dr. Karen Smith and staff, Nursing Specialties, Heart of Hospice, Gayle Dartez, Dane` Carriere, Rakayla Felix, Leola Journet, Linda George, Tanetta Malbreaux, and Mary Papillion. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of the service. A Rosary will be prayed by Brady LeBlanc Friday at 10:30 AM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in Dot's name may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 1250 Carmel Avenue, Lafayette, LA 70501.
