Thelma Marie Akeman Cochran was born to Charles and Bertha Sutton Akeman on August 23, 1927. She married Jerry Theodore "Ted" Cochran on June 8, 1951. Ted was in the military, which meant they moved many times until finally settling in Sulphur, LA, until he passed away on July 14, 1979. She later moved to Gonzales, LA to be near her grown children. Thelma was called home on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the age of 86. She was home and surrounded by family, like she wanted. She was a very strong woman, raising their five children after Ted's passing. She always gave her unconditional love. She will be welcomed in the Gates of Heaven by her husband, Ted; her mother and father, Charles and Bertha Akeman; brothers, Arthur Gus, Raymond and Ralph Dale; and sisters, Charlena Bounous Engleman and Maxine Hirsch. Thelma leaves behind her five children and spouses, Carla and James Baca of Gonzales, LA; Pamela and Gerald Eiermann of Gonzales, LA; Jerry Craig and Kellene Cochran of Prairieville, LA; Ronnie and Beth Cochran of Prairieville, LA; and Donnie and Debbie Cochran of Houston, TX. Also mourning her loss are her grandchildren whom she loved immensely, Jason and Lesley Eiermann; Brittania Eiermann and companion Cal Scott; Dustin and Mandy Good; Justin Eiermann; Amanda Thomas; Sharlena and Chad Armand; Lauren Hopkins and fiancé, Steve Belker; Randall Cochran; Morgan Cochran; Blake Cochran; Joshua Cochran; and her great grandchildren, Madeline Grace Eiermann and Jaydaa Good. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews that she enjoyed seeing at yearly family reunions- Dick, Gene, Richard Hirsch; Charisse and Al Linson, and son Alex; Clinton and Amber Zeller; and Norma Buchanan. She had a very large family and had abundant love for all. She was a remarkable woman and will be tremendously missed. The family will be receiving guests on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 401 S. Huntington St., Sulphur, LA 70663, from noon until funeral at 1:00 pm.
