Oran "Lee" Wylie III, a beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully last Wednesday, August 27, 2014, surrounded by his family whom he loved dearly. Lee fought with admirable determination and optimism to regain strength after his first stroke, but the magnitude of the fifth stroke in five weeks took him from us. Our hearts are hurting, but we know that he will forever be an angel. We will always smile remembering the seventy years of sometimes crazy, up and down moments he had during his lifetime. Lee greeted each morning on his front porch with coffee and his beloved Betsy, with the proclamation "Another day in paradise." He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Happy and Oran Lee Wylie Jr. He leaves the love of his life, Betsy Sullivan Wylie, his children and their spouses, Lisa and Charles Sutherland, Mike and Cynthia Wylie, Scott Wylie, Oran Wylie IV, his three sisters and their spouses Sheila and Bill Barton, Nancy and Bob Porterfield, Barbara and Dave Roper, and his brother and spouse, Steve and Kathie Wylie. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 10 am with a memorial service following at 11 am at St. James Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, officiated by Father Mark Holland. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to The Research on Lee's behalf. Online condolences may be left for the family at rabenhorst com.
