Shirley Anne Amar, 72, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at her home. Visitation at the Bible World Christian Center, 2156 Wooddale Blvd., on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in Chenal Cemetery, Lakeland, under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. She leaves to mourn two daughters, Angela Amar-Richard and her husband, Chairokey, and Linda Badon; two sons, including Ronald Amar and his wife, Bertha. She had a granddaughter, Shirley Anne Richard; and two grandsons, Daniel and John Badon. She also leaves a sister, Blondie Amar-Hopson; and three brothers, Alvin A. Amar RT, David Amar and Dr. John Amar; four nieces, Frances Hopson, Esq, Dr. Lisa Hopson-Van Holt, Janice Ricard-Katz and Sheila Amar-Meyers; and three nephews, John M. Ricard, Frank R. Hopson and Christopher Amar; and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews. Shirley Amar attended school at St. Frances Xavier in Baton Rouge, graduating from high school in June 1957. She was a member of Bible World Christian Center Ministry under Pastor David C. Griffin and Co-Pastor Gloria Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Lena Roberts Amar; daughter, Shirley Anne Amar; and two brothers, Dr. Leroy Amar and Alfred Amar.
