Dorothy Moore was born on May 31, 1966, to the union of Ida Mae Moore and the late Oscar Moore Sr. in Baton Rouge. Dorothy was a beautiful person on the inside and out. She had a sweet spirit and congenial nature that followed her everywhere she went. She had a very generous heart and would sacrifice all that she had to help others in need. She was truly a jewel whose presence will be missed. Dorothy was a true warrior for Christ and was a faithful member of the Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of the Truth in Amite, under Pastor Annie Chinn. She met Gary James Huey, under which seven boys were born: James Moore, Gary Moore, Derrick Moore, Kelvin Moore, Dexter Moore, Brian Moore and Maurice Moore. She leaves to mourn her mother, Ida Moore, of Baton Rouge; her aunt and pastor, Annie Chinn, of Baton Rouge; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Robert Ray, Bessie and Isiah Davis, and Diane and Troy Jackson, all of Baton Rouge, and Patricia and Kelvin Robinson, of Olympia, Wash.; seven boys, James Moore, Gary Moore, Derrick Moore, Kelvin and wife Tonya Moore, Dexter Moore, Brian Moore and Maurice Moore, all of Baton Rouge; oldest niece, Doris and husband Joel Bradford, of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren, Precious Moore and Gary Moore Jr., of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Felmon and Emma Buckley; father, Oscar Moore Sr.; two brothers, Oscar Moore Jr. and Michael Moore; a sister, Deborah Porter; a cousin, Leroy Chapman; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Funeral service at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m.
