Donald Arthur Loehr passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 89. He was born in Johnsberg, WI on December 20, 1923. He resided in River Ridge, LA for the past 56 years with his wife and sweetheart, Virginia Catalanotto Loehr. Don left Wisconsin at a young age to first work in a shipyard, then attended Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy, and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He met his wife of 64 years (who is a lifetime resident of New Orleans) at a USO dance while his ship was docked at the Port of New Orleans. Don worked most of his career as National Marketing Director and eventually President of Rich Plan Corporation. He was on the Board of the Direct Selling Association as well as a well know public speaker for the Frozen Food and Freezer Association Industry. He was also a founding parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Church in River Ridge. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, travelling, watching football and Judge Judy, and researching investments. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred H. Loehr and Josephine Gerhartz Loehr. In addition to his wife, Virginia, he is survived by his three children – Susan Mary Loehr, Carol L. Munster (Bobby) and Donald V. Loehr. As well as by five grandchildren – Ryan Munster, Brent Munster, Donald Alfred Loehr, Michelle Loehr, and Catherine Loehr. And one great-grandson, Jackson Matheny. He is also survived by a sister, Dolores Loehr Klienhans (James) of Chilton, WI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 12:00 Noon.
