Died July 18, 2013 at The Guest House Nursing Home, he retired from Labor Union 1177 with over 30 years as a member. He was a member of the Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as an usher, deacon, and community service volunteer for many years. He was the first to arrive and open the church doors for services. He was an avid recycler and his passions included his wife, children, grandchildren, church family and friends. Monroe was born January 26, 1926 in St. Francisville, Louisiana as one of nine children to Clint and Mary Davis-Myles. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Miller-Myles and sons Michael Myles and Monroe Myles Jr. and sisters Elmira Gaines, Moselle Hawkins, Jessie Myles, Ola Mae Myles, Bernice White, Doretha Coates, Bertha Myles and one brother, Edward Myles. He is survived by children, Denise Green (Donnell), Udall Myles (Wanda), and Rosalind Ellis (Arthur) 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and one sister Vallie Myles, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. on July 25, 2013 at Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church 4555 Fairfields Ave. Baton Rouge, La 70802 Pastor Robert Davis and Elder Charles Wilson will officiate. Interment will be at Southern Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Desselle Funeral Home, Baton Rouge La. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Life Source Services (Hospice) 3049 South Sherwood Forest Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
