Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, for Margaret Novella Apple Mouton, age 80, who died at 10:35 AM on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Entombment will be in St. John Mausoleum. Reverend Monsignor Richard Mouton will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Tim Mouton and Richard Mouton. Giftbearers will be Greg Mouton and Amanda Mouton Ficklin. Karen Broussard, vocalist, accompanied on the organ by Tom Niel, will sing for the services, "Be Not Afraid", "Ave Maria", "Panis Angelicus" and "Immaculate Mary". Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Frank Anthony Mouton, Sr.; one daughter, Amanda Anne Ficklin and her husband Benjamin; six sons, Richard Paul Mouton and his wife Barbara, Daniel Aubrey Mouton, Timothy Gerard Mouton, Steven Jude Mouton, André Scranton Mouton and his wife Theresa, and Gregory Alexandre Mouton; thirteen grandchildren, Kathy Mouton, Keresa Mouton Bonin, Kreseda Mouton, James Paul Mouton, Jason Anthony Mouton, Sage Christopher Mouton, Monique Theresé Mouton, Blake Amanda Mouton, Ashley Rose Mouton, Brandon Michael Toups, Courtney Amanda Marie Fife, Alexandre Gregory Joseph Mouton and Jordan Mouton;and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,Joseph Aubrey Apple and the former Amanda Hebert; two infants, Marie Inez Mouton and Joseph Mouton; one son, Frank Anthony Mouton II; three grandsons, Kameron Mouton, Kristian Mouton and Nicholis Anthony Toups; sisters, Elva Birkelbach and Zelda Hebert and one brother, Vernon Joseph Apple. Mrs. Mouton was born on December 2, 1933 in Esther, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was a member of the second graduating class at SLI Nursing School in 1956 and was Valedictorian of her class. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Registered Nurse for fifty years. Mrs. Mouton was a member of the Daughters of the Confederate and a member of Carmelites 3rd Order. She was a very devout and religious Catholic, who prayed the Rosary on a daily basis and served as a Lay Minister at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette. Mrs. Mouton was faithfully devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She also loved gardening. Mrs. Mouton was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Pallbearers will be her five sons, Richard Paul Mouton, Timothy Gerard Mouton, Steven Jude Mouton, André Scranton Mouton, Gregory Alexandre Mouton and Gene Lipps. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel Aubrey Mouton and Benji Ficklin. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 5:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by Monsignor Mouton.
