My condolences to the Chaisson family. I have known the COL. since he commanded Co C 769th Engineer Battalion in Thibodaux. I have many fond memories of him during our week-end drills, annual training periods and during his employment with the National Guard at Jackson Barracks. Our friendship meant a lot to me, and I am sure to him as well. He was a fine soldier, commander and a good man.

We in the United States have all heard the haunting song, “TAPS.” It's the song that gives us the lump in our throats and usually tears in our eyes.
The haunting melody, we now know as “TAPS” used at military funerals the words are:
Day is done.
Gone the sun.
From the lakes
From the hills.
From the sky.
All is well.
Safely rest.
God is nigh.
Fading light.
Dims the sight.
And a star.
Gems the sky.
Gleaming bright.
From afar.
Drawing nigh.
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise.
For our days.
Neath the sun
Neath the stars.
Neath the sky
As we go.
This we know.
God is nigh.

I'm sorry to hear of such a precious loss. May your family come to understand the reason humans die and why we have a real hope. Everyone has a hope to see loved ones awaken from death just as Lazarus was resurrected after his death. For now please seek refuge in prayer.

I had the pleasure of serving with CJ in the Third District Kiwanis Club for the past 7 years. I looked forward to talking about LSU sports with him and marveled at the fact that until recently he was playing his golf almost daily.
I married a Cajun girl that CJ loved to flirt with and speak French to whenever he saw her. He was real man's man that will be sorely missed.
