A native of Franklin and resident of Baton Rouge passed away at 6:58 am on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Ollie Steele Burden Nursing Home. He was 88 and a retired maintenance supervisor at Southern University, Sgt. at Arms at LA House of Representative and US Army veteran. Visiting at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 6217 Glen Oaks Dr., on Wednesday, July 2 from 9 am until service at noon, conducted by Rev. Derrick Hills. Interment in Louisiana National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Hazel T. Brent; daughter, Kimberly Brent Jones; brothers, William Brent, Jr., and Nathaniel Brent; and one grandchild, Brent Nicholas Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Brent, Sr. and Evelyn Moore Brent; brothers, Calvin and Herman Brent; and sister Margaret Brent. He was a member of American Legion Bonnette Harrison Post #502, F & AM Twilight Lodge #166, Men of Distinction and St. Mark UMC Usher Board #1. Services entrusted to Hall Davis & Sons Funeral Home.
