Danny Ferrara, age 54, a resident of Addis, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2019. Danny is survived by his adoring wife, Darnelle Pourciau Ferrara; his children, Joshua & Gabrielle Ferrara, Christopher & Rebecca Ferrara, Joelle Ferrara, JD & Claire Ohlerking, and Michael & Julia Ali; his grandchildren, Luca Ferrara and Milo Ferrara; his father, Russell Ferrara Sr.; and his sisters, Janis Ferrara, Nancy Ballard & husband Ricky, and his brother, Russell Ferrara Jr. & wife Missy; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was greeted in heaven by his mother, Antoinette Macaluso Ferrara (April 2019), and his sister, Annette Ferrara (May 2019). Danny was known for his passion and faithfulness in all things. Faithfully devoted to his wife of 33 years. Passionate about his 5 kids, and their spouses who he claimed as his own children. Faithful in loving his 2 grandchildren, who playfully refer to him as "Sir." Faithful in his love for Jesus, serving in his local church, and leading his family down the same path. Passionate about his pursuit of learning and his lifelong love of music. And of course, passionate about exploring new places and foods. As much as he loved all of these things, he was equally loved in return by his family and friends. Danny leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, passion, and family. He was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School in the class of 1983, and attended LSU for Civil Engineering. Danny thoroughly enjoyed his work as a Civil/Structural Designer at Jacobs Engineering for the past 12 years. He was also a talented guitar player and singer on the worship team at Healing Place Church. Danny's family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all of our family and friends for the continuous prayers and generous support during this time. We would also like to publicly thank the incredible staff at the Baton Rouge General Hospital for helping to organize the wedding of Michael and Julia Ali while Danny was still at the hospital and able to attend. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at Healing Place Church's Annex at 19202 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Saturday at 11am. In honor of Danny's love of music, the family is requesting that everyone wear their favorite band t-shirt.

Janis so Sorry about Danny. Your family has suffered so much loss in such a short time. I really wish I could come down there and be with you a while. Tell everyone that I will be praying for comfort for their loss but they all know where he is and that he is with your mother and sister. I know she is happy to see him. Can you just imagine how wonderful it is up there.

Here is a Candle my friend. This light of the Lord symbolizes the Peace of God that surpasses all understanding. I thank God for people like you that made a difference in this world for others as you did. Thank you for the difference that you made in my life as a schoolmate and dear friend. Life is so short people, please make it your business to tell people that you love them. I wish I would have had the chance to thank Danny as an adult the difference he made in my life as we would laugh and eat lunch and none of the other kids were kind, but Danny treated me like a sister and a friend. He accepted my difference and I thank God that he has transitioned from labor to reward in heaven. He was kind and brotherly to everyone and I was blessed just to be able to call him brother and friend.

Wow! I went to school with Danny and remember when I was the new kid at Baton Rouge High, Danny treated me like a sister years have gone by and when I saw his obituary in the paper. My sincere condolences to his family. You have my prayers for strength and steadfast endurance and strength. He was kind when I didn't have any friends, lunch money or any lunch we were 14 years old, he treated me like a human being. Thanks Danny F for forever life cherishing moments that will remain a life time. Rest in heaven, I didn't get to tell you thanks for the kindness while you were here, however HEAVEN AWAITS GOD'S Saints. I love you family of Danny and know that you will always be in me and my husband's thoughts and prayers. God Bless and keep you always is my sincere prayer.

I was so sorry to hear a few weeks ago that Danny was nearing the end of his life on Earth, but know that he is in Heaven now. I have so many memories of times we spent together in junior high, especially when we had our little band. I won't be there to say goodbye in person, but I will wear my Pink Floyd t-shirt on Sunday in his honor.

Danny is one of the most important people in our lives. 34 years of following the Lord together, raising children together, building memories at Toledo Bend, celebrating marriages and grandchildren...we are so grateful to the Lord for every moment we had with you and for the hope of heaven. See you on the other side beloved friend-brother. Praying for hope-filled comfort to blanket the family and all who loved Danny.

I'm so sorry to hear of Danny's passing. He was a great guy whom I met thru my brother Kirby at Baton Rouge High and worked with at Jacobs. I am however so glad that Danny had become a Christian which neither one of us were in high school. That's an awesome testimony!
