Our beloved Irma Jean Burton-Hasten was born August 28, 1954 to the late Geraldine and Walter James Burton in New Orleans, Louisiana. Irma attended Booker T. Washington High School and Later went on to attend Cosmetology School. Irma was married to the late Henry Hasten Jr. for 28 blessed years. To this union four children were born, Audrey Jacobs (Sidney), Danielle Phagans (Demond), Henry Hasten III, and Toya Nash (Joseph). Irma symbolized her dedication to "Jehovah" by choosing to be baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on November 11, 1976. She cultivated warm friendships with everyone she met. Her spirit of helping was evident by the many times she opened her home to strangers. She showered everyone with love, advice, and discipline when needed. The compassion she felt for others was always apparent. Irma will forever be remembered for her big heart and willingness to help others. She wore many hats throughout her life and was simply "Everything to Everybody." Irma passed away after a lengthy illness, peacefully surrounded by her family on December 25, 2020. Irma will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, siblings, devoted friends (Linda Brock, Terry Hunt, Pricella "Mattie" West, Delisa Delpit-Ba, and Sis. Anna Brown), the Hasten Family, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
