With heavy hearts the family of John Leroy Sellers Sr. announces his passing on September 13th, 2018 at 5:05pm. He passed away at his home peacefully, surrounded by his family. John was 73 years old and a native of Baton Rouge, La. He attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and later graduated from Capital Senior High School in 1963. John retired from cement masonry after 45 years of service. John was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He was a friend to all who knew him. He is now in his heavenly home and will truly be missed by all of the lives and hearts he touched. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ida Mullens Sellers. Two sons John L. (Kellie) Sellers Jr. & Elwin J, (Maisha) Sellers. Three daughters LeNaSa (James) Scott, Lillian A. Sellers, & Dimitris (Carl) Buchanan. One adopted daughter Carolyn Mullens. 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Two sisters, Lula Mae Brown, & Vivian Wilson. One brother Clarence (Gloria) Sellers, and a host of nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Charles Mackey Funeral home in charge of funeral arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday September 20th from 4pm to 7pm at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 650 Blount Rd, Baton Rouge, La 70807. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 21st at 11am with viewing starting at 9am at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Rd, Baton Rouge, La 70811. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Gardens.
