Toni,

To say the least, it was a shock to hear about Sammy. I remember seeing you guys at the BCS Championship in January and visiting with you all in the hotel for awhile. He was a great teammate and more importantly A GOOD PERSON!I never saw Sammy without a smile on his face.
Toni, I wish you peace in knowing that Sammy is being well taken care of and I also wish you nothing but pleasant memories of your life together.

Sincerely,

Mitch Worley

So sorry to her about Sammy. Although I did not see him for many years, I have fond memories of him from LSU football days . He was a senior when I was a freshman and he was one of the older guys that helped me and made me feel welcome to Loiusiana and the LSU football team. Sammy was a tough player but also a true gentleman and a fine person.

Toni, my heart goes out to you and all your family. I knew Sammy from high school days and in fact, I met you at Morrison's Bait Shop in New Roads several years ago when I was in for a Poydras Class Reunion. It was so neat to see you both and Sammy hadn't changed at all. He was such a great athlete and was always so kind and friendly to everyone...even students from another school. He was a great guy and I know you will all miss him very much. We have mutual friends, Kathy and Shirley Donnell (Wichita Falls, Tx). I passed the word on to each of them about Sammy. You have my sympathy.

It's always hard to lose a teammate ... Especially one like Sammy. I'll always remember riding together to practice... And he would stop and get a milkshake on the way! Sammy was a kind and sincere man. My prayers are offered to his family in this their time of need

To Mrs. Toni and family,
It was troubling to hear the news of Mr. Sammy's passing Friday. I was fortunate for the last couple of years to see Mr. Sammy on a fairly regular basis when he came to the pharmacy. He always seemed to take a moment to say hello and occasionally we had a moment to chat. I will always remember him for his positivity and never ending smile. He will be missed by myself and my staff.

Dearest Toni and your family,
I can only imagine what you're going through. We could hardly beleive it was true. I remember when you and I used to study together when we were at LSU, and our husbands couldn't sleep well, depending upon at which house we were spending the night. JW and I have a lot of great memories.

Our whole family feels this personally. Sammy and your family meant so much to my mom and dad. The amazing help he has given to us by being the executor of mom and dad's estate goes beyond anything we could have imagined.

Toni, I would be there, but I have just had two back surgeries within weeks of each other. The doctor won't let me travel yet. Please know that my heart and prayers are with you!

All our love,

Sandra & JW Green

I am shocked. He stopped by to see me on Thursday and I was out, I will always regret not being there. He was indeed one of the great Louisiana citizens, in sports, in business and in family and community. He was even a groomsman in my wedding. He will be missed. Chef john Folse
