Robert Munson Jr. Obituary

Robert "Bob" Jackson Munson, Jr., often referred to as "the nicest man in politics," passed away in the early morning hours of December 16. Bob is survived by his wife, Tracy Brasher Munson, mother Kathryn "Kitty" Munson Dammon, daughter and son-in-law Leigh Neri and Michael Neri, son and daughter-in-law Robert J. Munson, III and Sarah Sullivan Munson, daughter Morgan Anne Munson, grandsons Andrew and Alexander Neri, Jackson Munson and Joshua Peek, brother Tom Munson and sister Pam English along with numerous nieces and nephews. Born March 12, 1950, Bob grew up on Witchwood Plantation in Cheneyville, LA, and often liked to refer to himself as a "farm boy," a suggestion actual farm boys would find humorous. After graduating from LSU, Bob followed in his father's rather large political footsteps as a campaign strategist and public servant. He successfully represented clients from United States Senate campaigns to gubernatorial races in states across the country, though it was Louisiana politics he loved the most. In his element, Bob was known as a man who ran campaigns ethically and with integrity in a business rarely known for either. Through his work, he forged personal relationships that would last his lifetime. Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a board member of Trinity Episcopal Day School. He was an avid tennis player at the Bocage Racquet Club who loved working out, hiking and all physical activities. In his death, Bob was surrounded by his family, friends and the love of his life Tracy, whom he adored beyond measure. His family praises God that Bob found life in Christ. Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Baton Rouge, from 9-11 am until memorial service at 11 am on Friday, December 18, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank or Open Air Ministries.

Bob was one of a kind. Funny, brilliant, generous and kind. It was easy to love Bob because he loved me. What I liked most of all, as his Mother-in-law, is that he adored Tracy, his children and his grandchildren, and that he loved his friends, his church and his God. I will miss you, Bob.

I am heartbroken and shocked to learn of Bob's passing. He was always so kind and patient with me when we worked together and not only explained why he made his suggestions, but listened to mine just as intently. What a wonderful, kind gentleman.

Tracy, I am devastated and paralyzed when I think of precious Bob! There are no words to adequately convey my heartfelt sympathy and our sense of loss. Bob was one of the kindest and most caring men who never missed an opportunity to speak a word of encouragement or perform an act of kindness to those around. I will always treasure his friendship. May God wrap his arms around you and hold you close during this difficult time, and may the memories of Bob bring you much comfort.

When I was just a little punk, Bobby always treated me with the highest respect. His parents were very close to my grandmother and when we'd visit from Opelousas, he took the time to make me feel welcome and would take me to ride Tarzan, his horse... Bobby and Tom were nice when they didn't have to be. He was a very good man and will live forever because of that.

Tracy and family, I am so sorry to hear of Bobby's death. I was so happy to see him in May when I was there, and he had emailed me about you and he and Joshua and how good life was. We were buddies growing up and seemed to think alike. I will always love him, and he will be in my heart forever. I hope that you can find peace. He is surely with God.

My favorite client of all time, and one of the finest people I ever met. I'll never forget running up and down the Louisiana roads with Bob, shooting commercial after commercial for his candidates, working our tails off and having a blast. I got to see first hand how respected and well-loved Bob was among all political groups. Bob was smart, funny and kind, and he plainly adored Tracy, his children and grandchildren. My prayers are with his family. Bob, rest well, my friend. I'll see you in the Kingdom.

Bob Munson was a giant in our political world. Through the years Bob and I crossed the Campaign trails so many times. He taught me so much in our political world and I shall always thank him for allowing me to grasp his wisdom and knowledge. I am so thankful that the two of us took time out of our hectic Campaigns a few weeks back to sit down together to remember past Campaigns and share some memories of days gone by. Bob was a guy I am proud to call friend. Thanks for the memories.

Tracy, words cannot express such feelings. Prayers must, and shall. This loss is unreal, as will long be so. My heart reaches out to you, and each in the family Bob so powerfully loved and cherished. He was remarkable when I met him those forty years ago, and remains so now. Through the tears, I clearly see God's arms around Bob, you, and each of his beloved family. Bob's smile, of course, is brighter than ever.

My family and I are devastated and so sad with this news. He and I grew up together, and we all shared countless adventures and day to day living. We loved each other's parents, remembered birthdays, and shared the joys and sorrows of life's events. Even though I didn't see him a lot during the past years, the bond was never broken between us all. Bobby was one of the best. My family and I prayed for all of Bobby's family tonight. We are thinking about you.

To Bobby's family I send sincere sorrow for your loss. IOur mothers
were the closest of friends , and for years we lived between their
House, our house, and the Rabalais house. Together almost every
day...I am also the little sister of Rickey, his best childhood friend.. As young adults we drifted apart but our hearts are forever
tied together by all those childhood memories. Bobby brought us all
together today by phone and text, sharing our grief and shock by his sudden death. Love is the only thing that goes with us when we leave this world, so mine along with the great love of his family and so many others will be with him always and forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
