A resident of Kentwood passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond. He was born December 13, 1935 in Kentwood and was 81 years of age. He had a full and long life and enjoyed every day of it. He was co-owner and operator of Kentwood Farm Center. Also, he was a City Councilman and Alderman for the Town of Kentwood for many years. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Lee Allen; 2 sons, David Young Allen and James Allen, Jr.; 6 grandchildren, Eli Allen and wife, Marla, Savana Allen, Jordan Allen, Stephen Allen, Katie Allen, and Landon Allen; brother, Keith Allen; sister, Dorothy Gill and husband, Billy; and sister in law, Rosalie Wheeler. Preceded in death by his parents, J. Y. and Mamie Allen. Visitation at First Baptist Church of Kentwood from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017.
