My dear Susie!!!!
You & Norma we're such treasured compasses in my artistic life from high school to college to marriage & beyond. You were always about what was good & right, showing me how to be my best. The stories you would share about your days in the classroom were such fun to hear & you gave me advice on teaching I will never forget. A steady rock, great cook & listener. Your perceptiveness was a gift that you often shared over coffee or something delicious you created. I am thankful for the times we got to meet up & visit in Baton Rouge when I came to see my family. You will be missed. I am confident we will meet again. Donald & I send love & blessings to you & your family.

I was fortunate to have Miss Berry in 4th grade at Broadmoor. She would not let students say they couldn't do something. She made you work at it until you could do it.
She is one of the teachers who made me want to teach.
She enriched everyone she taught. She is missed.

A little slice of heaven. That's what you gave all us kids on Greenbriar Drive back in the late 1960's. Could not have asked for a better childhood, thanks to people like you Miss Berry! Spending a weekend evening at your house for popcorn and scary movies on t.v.; only having to walk down to the end of the street to go to your 6th grade class at Broadmoor Elementary; the way your larger-than-life personality was laser-focused on the love and sincere well-being of your students - we knew even then how lucky we were. So sad to see you gone, but even in your passing, the thought of you only makes me smile. Thanks for everything Miss Berry.

Those of us who went to Broadmoor were so lucky to have had her as a teacher. She also
lead us in the Monday Morning Assembly. I now have the song "John Jacob..." in my head for all time.
Wonderful, dedicated Educator. We are all
better for having known her.

I consider myself very fortunate to have had "Miss" Berry for my teacher in the 4th and the 6th grade at Broadmoor Elementary School in the early 60s. She was an amazing teacher who loved her students and she helped to give me a sense of worth and a motivation to excel when my self image was not very good. My parents and I always appreciated her for that!
I remember that she had a way of managing the discipline of elementary students with a larger than life persona and a voice that could get your attention without being angry or mean. Somehow I even remember the times when she would leave the room to make copies or something but warn us she was returning with a booming "AH-CHOO!!" in the hallway - this would give us time to settle down before she opened the door!
I always loved you dear lady! Heaven has gained another beautiful soul!!
