A native of West Monroe and resident of Lottie passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the age of 80. He served in the United States Army for 6 years and was decorated as an expert Rifleman. He was employed with the LA Dept. of Transportation and Development where he worked for over 30 years. Jerry and his wife, Betty, were dedicated servants of Cane Brake Baptist Church where he was ordained and served as a Deacon since 1968. His greatest pleasure was leading Sunday school where he took great pride in teaching God's word. As an avid outdoorsman, he spent much of his time hunting and fishing. Jerry was a published author writing articles about hunting for Bayou State Sportsman and NWTF Magazines. Visiting will be held at Cane Brake Baptist Church in Lottie on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 9:00 AM until Religious Services at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Cottonwood Cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Jerry, Jr. (wife Tamara) of Livonia and Vincent (wife Dianne) of New Roads, five grandchildren, Kyle (fiancé Lauren David), Bret, Joseph, Samantha, and Abigail. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Stermer Hawkins, his parents, Jerry Vincent and Josephine Hall Hawkins, and a sister Dolly Hawkins. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Cane Brake Baptist Church, P.O. Box 127, Lottie, LA 70756. Pallbearers will be Kyle Hawkins, Bret Hawkins, Joseph Hawkins, Ralph Bridges, Bobby Israel and Blaine Israel.

i certainly will miss this dude. He and his wife were always willing to share their lives me and my dear wife. When we were at his house we were right at home. Anyone who hasn't sat down with Jerry and chewed the fat with him has missed an indescribable experience.
