John Kaklis Obituary

John Giannis Kaklis a native of Volos, Greece, and a longtime resident of New Orleans, passed away Wednesday, August 1st, 2018, at the age of 73. John was a member of the Greek Navy before emigrating to the United States. Once he arrived in Louisiana he became a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and he worked as a ship operator at Avondale Ship Yard followed by a career as a driver for Crescent Shipping. He is survived by his two sons Constantinos John (Jenifer) Kaklis and Paul John Kaklis, brother Philippe (Despena) Kaklis, granddaughter Addison Marie Kaklis, two step-grandchildren Chandler Dodd and Whitney Dodd, and his nieces Olympia Kaklis and Elpida Kaklis. He is preceded in death by his parents Costas and Olympia Kaklis, sister Maria (Spiros) Kaklis. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lisa Stovall, Dr Gerald Milettello and staff, Ashley with Hospice of Baton Rouge, Ashley Miller, the Sunrise Staff Trinity and Ciarra. In lieu of flowers, please make donations directly to Hospice of Baton Rouge.
