I will always be grateful to Dr. and Mrs. Higgins for helping me get through college . I went to Southern with no money but got a job working in the Political Science Office for Dr. Higgins for four years. When Dr. Higgins passed, I drove Mrs. Higgins to many meetings throughout the state of Louisiana and worked with her Bayou Boys and Girls State. They were always wonderful to me and I will never forget it. I went from having nothing entering Southern to teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal for 20 years and assistant supt. of schools with a doctorate mostly in Arizona. I like to believe they played a large part in my successful career and life. I am forever grateful. May she and Dr. Higgins rest in peace and love to their lovely children.

I just learned today of the passing of Mrs. Higgins. I first met Dr. and Mildred in 1958 when I attended Southern and worked for Dr. Higgins for four years. I also worked with Mrs. Higgins during Bayou Boys and Girls State and drove her to many cities around Louisiana to various meetings. I watched her children grow into fine young people. My condolences to her family and her kindness during the times I worked for she and Dr. Higgins.
