Stanley Forbes Obituary

Stanley R. Forbes, 75, of Greenwell Springs, LA departed this earth from his home and walked into the arms of our Lord the evening of January 2nd, 2019. Stan was born June 19th, 1943 in Baton Rouge, where he resided most of his life. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School and LSU and retired from ExxonMobil after 34 years employment as a Certified Industrial Hygienist. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Jacqueline Forbes, his sister, Jackie Forbes Allen and his brother-in-law, Jesse Allen. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virgie Carpenter Forbes, their son Scott and his wife Kellie of Kingwood, TX and his son Ryan of Carmel, IN; his brother, Charles Forbes and his wife Martha Gaddis Forbes of Baton Rouge; his sister-in-law, Sharlene Carpenter Baldwin and her husband Mike Baldwin of Ragley, LA. He was PawPaw to five grandsons, all of whom he adored. Jacob Forbes and his wife Allison Rust Forbes, along with their daughter, Liliana of Colorado Springs, CO; Caleb, Adam and Daniel Forbes of Kingwood, TX and Bailey Forbes of Carmel, IN. He was Uncle Stan to Beth and Casey Baldwin, Matthew Forbes, Sarah Forbes Daugherty and Jason Allen. Stan had a gift with numbers and loved a good game of poker or chess. He was a talented artist and woodworker and he was a voracious reader. He loved the Smokey Mountains in the fall and the gulf beaches in the summer. He loved all things LSU, year round. Stan lived his faith as a selfless servant, as demonstrated through his many years of lay leadership and service at Blackwater United Methodist Church and in the way he ministered compassionately to those who were ill or alone. Always generous with his time and his talents, his greatest earthly interest and passion was his family. He was a devoted, supportive husband, father, brother and son and he found joy by investing himself in the happiness of those he loved. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Stan's life at Blackwater United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 6th. There will be a time of fellowship beginning at 1PM, followed by a memorial service at 2PM. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Blackwater United Methodist Church and/or St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge.

I also had the pleasure of working with Stan throughout both of our careers at EM. A truly great guy. May our Lord strengthen the family in this time of great loss.

I had the pleasure of working with Stan at Exxon in the 1990's. He was a wealth of knowledge and willingly helped a young kid fresh out of school. I recall him fondly and extend my prayers to his family.
