Henry Guillaume Obituary

Henry R. Guillaume passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019, at the age of 69. He was at The Carpenter House with his family by his bedside. He was a native and a life-long resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Henry attended St. Anthony Parochial School and in 1967 he graduated from Istrouma High. After high school, he worked full time in the family roofing business and soon after he joined the US Army Reserve. When his father retired, Henry and his brother continued working in the roofing business and co-owned the Henry Guillaume Roofing Company, which later became Guillaume Construction and Maintenance. Henry enjoyed boating, water skiing, camping, bowling, cooking jambalaya, and boiling crawfish for the family and small and large groups that asked for his help. He was passionate about staying healthy and exercising daily. Henry is survived by his mother, Rita Guillaume; brother, James Guillaume and wife, Lisa; sisters, Joyce G. Chauvin and husband, Errol, and Rita Nettles and husband, Russell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and long-time friend and companion, Lou Reynolds. Henry is preceded in death by his father, Henry C. Guillaume; grandparents, Joseph and Felicie C. Guillaume and Roland J. and Irene B. Pourciau; great-nephew, Henry C. Nettles, Jr.; sister-in-law, Christine M. Guillaume. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks on Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 9:00AM until the time of funeral services at 10:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dale, Clay and Jason Nettles, Todd Chauvin, Roy Melancon and Toby Dodson. Honorary pallbearers will be Darren, Brian, Derek, Dylan, Nick and Josh Daigle. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to all family and friends who have supported and prayed for Henry during his journey to the Lord. The family also thanks the staff of St. Joseph Hospice and the Baton Rouge General Medical Center for their kindness and caring for our loved one. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry's name to St. Vincent de Paul or The Carpenter House.
