Anna Trena Saizon Guillaume, a longtime resident of New Orleans, LA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the age of 92. In the hours preceding her death, her children and several grandchildren visited and prayed with her. Anna was born in New Roads, LA on January 11, 1926 to the late Joseph Jules and Mercedes St. Amant Saizon. Mrs. Guillaume graduated from St. Augustine Elementary School in New Roads and later attended McDonogh #35 High School in New Orleans. Passionate about education, she completed Business School at night, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Xavier University of LA in 1955. A year later she received her certification in Elementary Education. Trena taught in the Orleans Parish Public School System and in summer she taught music for the New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD). She was an organist at each of her church parishes, St. Augustine in New Roads, St. Raymond, St. Peter Claver and St. Gabriel the Arch Angel Catholic Churches in New Orleans. She hosted Our Lady of Fatima rosary devotions at her home and sewed outfits for the Infant Jesus of Prague. She also taught piano to the Sisters of the Holy Family and played piano for the elderly residents of Lafon Home. Trena enjoyed an active social life with her friends, especially the Chat and Trump Club members. She and her husband Alfred were widely admired for their grace in social dancing. Along with her career, Trena was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She participated actively in her children's education and interests, encouraging them to use their God-given gifts and talents in service to others. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and exercising at the People Program. In addition to her parents, Trena is also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Joseph Guillaume Sr., and great-grandson, Noah Branigan. She is survived by her sister, Rosalie Theresa Norwood; five children, Alfred Jr. (Melanie and former wife, Bernice), Rhaoul (Geretta), Cynthia (the late Bivian Lee Jr.) Teresita and Warmoth ( Laurie and former wife, Arment); sisters-in-law, Miriam Boucree (Albert) and Carroll Davis Guillaume of Los Angeles, CA,; numerous nieces and nephews, among them, Sherrie Clark, with whom she shared a special bond. She also leaves ten grandchildren, Rhaoul Jr. (Blair), Alfred III (Nashida), Randy (Leah), Tamica Smith (Barry), Jenee' Branigan (Brian), Bivian III "Sonny," Paul (Katie), Alyssa Donaby (Chris), Jamie Barker (Michael) and Ashley; eleven great-grandchildren (Rani, William, Aiden, Tenzin, Michelle, Henry, Juliette, Christian, James, Suzanne and Patrick). The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her caring sitters, Lisa Howard and Patricia Williams. Donations in Trena's name may be made to the People Program (www.peopleprogram.org), the MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org) and Son of a Saint Organization (www.sonofasaint.org). A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Mrs. Guillaume will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 5029 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 AM.
