John Mark Goodwin was born October 8, 1961, in Kansas City Mo, and died February 26, 2018, in Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his father Dr. John W. Goodwin and sister Jackie Lyn Goodwin. He is survived by his daughter Erika Leigh Goodwin, his mother Johnnie Faye Goodwin, and his sister Jodie Lea Goodwin Evans. John Mark was an accomplished musician, earning recognition on the Austin music scene, and he was well known in the Blues and Jazz community throughout Texas and the United States. He traveled around the world with his music and enjoyed meeting new friends and music enthusiasts. John Mark never met a stranger, and he was always willing to give of his time and talents to help others. He will be greatly missed by so many. The memorial service will be held Thursday March 8th at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 9755 Goodwood Blvd, Baton Rouge LA 70815. Visitation is from 10am to 11am with the service immediately after at 11am. There will be a short reception in the activities hall following the service.

I knew Mark way back in the 1970's when we were in Scouts. He had a lot of talent and a gracious personality. Everyone liked him because of his easy going nature. I am very sorry to read about his death.
