Mr. Leonard "Sug" Knight Coats, 75 years old of Springfield, Louisiana, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his home, with his family by his side. Sug was born on Monday, April 18, 1938, in Springfield. He was retired from Iron Workers Local 623. After retiring, he continued to work on the family farm. Surviving are wife of 54 years, Theresa Vampran Coats, sons & daughters-in-law, Leonard K. Coats Jr. and Vicky Edwards Coats, Randy Penalber and Jeanne' Hebert, grandchildren and their spouses, Annie Coats Jenkins and Greg Jenkins, Brandi Penalber Cox and Rick Cox, grandchildren, Randy Penalber Jr. and Cody Penalber, great-grandchildren, Hadleigh Jenkins, Kelsie Cox and Kenlee Cox, sister, Elaine Fayard, brother & sister-in-law, George "Babin" Coats Marcia Coats. He is preceded in death by parents, George Grafton Coats and Louise Coats, sister, June Coats Mcintyre and son, Denver Dale Penalber. Friends will be received Monday, April 22, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula. Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Emile Tasso officiating. Interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery Springfield, Louisiana.
