My sympathy to Mrs. Blackwell's family. She was my 6th grade teacher at Gonzales Elementary and was my favorite teacher during all my years in Ascension schools. She did so much for so many kids. Her light continues to shine with the love of knowledge she instilled in others.

I never had the privilege of meeting Ms. Zita but I have had the privilege of working with Buddy. My heart goes out to him and his entire family. She is now at the hand of our good Lord and can now watch over everyone as she has never been able to do before. She will remain forever in your hearts.

When I was a child about 4 years old (57 years ago) I fell off a pier into the canal in front of a family camp in the Indigo area of Bayou Pigeon.
I remember women being in the yard around the camp but I don't remember any men being around. They must have been out hunting or fishing.
As I was drowning, "Aunt Zita", as we called her because of the uniquely close friendship the LeGrange family shared with the Blackwell family, leaped from shore into the canal pulling me into her arms and bringing me safely to the bank of the canal.
Her swift action saved my life. According to my calculations she was 30 years old at that time.
Thank you Aunt Zita. I am confident you are with the Lord.
Johnny, Barbra & Buddy, may your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of your mother as you celebrate a life well lived!

"Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted". St. Matthews 5:4
My prayers and condolences are with you at this time of your bereavement. May your beautiful memories of Mrs. Blackwell bring you comfort.
The road ahead will not be easy, the pain will not go away next week. It will take time and lots of prayers. Lean on each other and together, lean on Jesus.
God bless you.
