To Gloria, Tammi, and all of Evelyn's family that I never got to meet, when it came time to get ready to get dressed to leave Saturday morning...I just couldn't do it. I could not stand the idea of going in there and seeing my beautiful friend laying in that casket, looking beautiful, as if she were sleeping, ready to get up and crack a joke, or smile that beautiful smile, or to do something to make someone else's day just a little bit brighter just because that is how she always was.
She was such a joy and a pleasure to have in our lives, and it has been such a hard thing just to pass by and not see her in the office but at least we knew she was out there, fighting to get better.
But now I know she is gone and she will not be coming back...and I just could not face that yesterday. I just could not look upon that face and know that she was no longer with us...but rather dancing with angels, swirling around in ivory robes, that gorgeous long black hair swirling out behind her, stars in her beautiful crown for all the love and joy and comfort she gave to all the other people in her life.
