Back in the day, when I was a state trooper, I don't know how many times I had stopped a car and the driver and his passengers bailed out, thinking they could just whip me and get away.
Then we heard Darwin's booming voice saying "You don't want to do that".
I never even knew he was behind me, but it seemed he always was.
And what means even more to me is that 20 years later, he was there for my son just as he was for me.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with and learning from Darwin for 3 1/2 years as a fellow deputy under Sheriff Frank Edwards during the late 1970s. As good a deputy as Darwin was, he was a better man. Rest well good and faithful servant. You have done your job on earth well.
