James Gray Bolton, 87, passed away on Monday October 22, 2012 at the Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet, with his family at his bedside. He was the owner and president of The Bolton Company, Inc. for over 50 years before his retirement. He was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA for over 60 years and a native of Springfield, Delaware County, PA, suburban Philadelphia, where he was born on June 17, 1925. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, enlisting at the age of 17 and serving in the Western and South Pacific. He attended Columbia University in New York City and graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church as well as St. James Masonic Lodge. He was also a Scottish Rite and York Rite, a member of American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and past member of AGC, ASA and IAWCC. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mell Campbell Bolton, daughters Nancy Bolton Grable, St. Louis, MO; Julie Bolton Falgout and husband Paul, Lafayette, LA; sons Matthew C. Bolton and wife Karen, Baton Rouge, LA; Christopher C. Bolton, Shreveport, LA and grandchildren James Clay Grable, Daniel Paul Falgout, Christopher C. Bolton II and Mary Katherine Bolton. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Gray and Margaret Ann Bolton; sister Isabel May Bolton; brother John Samuel Bolton; son James Gray Bolton III and son-in-law Jay A. Grable. He was an exceptional father, husband and friend. We will miss him and love him always. Visitation to be held Friday, October 26, 2012 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, LA from 10:00 a.m. until religious service at 1:00 p.m., with Masonic Services at 12:00 noon. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Bolton, Gordon Knipe, Jim Knipe, Christopher Bolton II, Daniel Falgout and Paul Falgout. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet for all the care, compassion and concern given to him and his family during his brief time there, as well as the staff of the Our Lady of the Lake Voice Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to The Salvation Army or charity of your choosing.
